Silk Comforters
Guide To Silk Comforters
Silk comforters are truly a must-have in any
do-it-yourself decorating project for the bedroom. They
add depth and elegance to the room, and are available in
an assortment of colors to co-ordinate with your color
scheme.
And not only are silk comforters easy on the eyes, but
is lightweight and makes one feel less humid during the
summer or in humid climates and keeps you warm and
toasty on those cold winter days and nights.
Silk comforters are no longer reserved for the elite as
was once perceived when the comforters made its debut.
In fact, the average homeowner with an insatiable taste
for the finer things in life can walk into any
department store with just around $400 and emerge with a
comforter set.
The Chinese are the ones who are credited for
introducing silk comforters. Unlike other Chinese
comforters, which are stuffed with short cotton fibers,
the silk comforter boasts a generous amount of silk
filling.
The process that is involved in creating an exquisite
bed cover of this caliber is a meticulous one which
involves extensive combing of the silk, which are later
gathered and stitched in thin layers.
The fiber’s layers are then mounded and closed inside
silk or cotton fabrics for a variety of thickness. These
embedded fibers allow moisture to pass through.
Despite its thickness within though, silk comforters
have a way of fitting on your bed with fluidity, which
is not offered by standard comforters. In fact the only
thing they do have in common with regular polyester or
cotton comforters, silk comforters are available in all
sizes from twin to king-sized.
And there are other factors that set the silk comforter
apart from his other bedding counterparts. For one thing
it is hypoallergenic so it makes it less difficult for
the buyer to get allergies that are associated with
comforters.
The silk comforter adjusts to your body temperature and
never becomes cumbersome.
Most silk comforters are sold with duvet covers so as to
preserve the life of the comforter, which is very
delicate. Usually without the duvet cover, one would
have to take the comforter to the dry cleaners every
couple of weeks for cleaning. The duvet cover, which is
also available in silk, would prevent you from having to
wash your comforter so often.
But silk comforters are known for their high level of
comfort and luxury. Consumers who have tried them have
described it as ‘like sleeping on a cloud.’
Today, manufacturers have imitated silk comforters with
the use of artificial fibers so that some can enjoy the
look of luxury that a silk comforter usually brings,
without the high price. Still, original silk comforters
are still widely used in China and are still recognized
as a sign of the wealth in some Chinese communities.
Your bedroom is your ultimate sanctuary, the place that
you retreat to after a hard day at work or play to cool
your frayed mind. You owe it to yourself to sleep like a
king or queen on a silk comforter. Your body would thank
you for it.
