Cleaning Fabric Stains From Your Designer Bed Comforter
Someday the inevitable happens, and you spill your
morning coffee or you little toddler uses a crayon to
draw you a picture. But the problem is that these
incidents have all occurred on your designer bed
comforter.
Fear not! These stains can be quickly removed if you
follow these guidelines to remove them. This article
will illustrate the practical ways around the home you
can use to clean your designer bed comforter from
coffee, chewing gum, crayon, pen marks or lipstick.
Coffee
To clean coffee stain it is recommended that you
immediately apply paper towels to the area or a cloth to
soak up any excess coffee. Afterwards, pour large
amounts of cold water on the stain located on your
designer bed comforter. Then pre-treat the stain with
stain remover while rubbing gently. Lastly, wash in your
favorite detergent and allow the designer comforter to
dry. The coffee stain will have disappeared.
Chewing Gum
To remove chewing gum from a designer comforter is a
little harder than removing a coffee stain. First the
area where the chewing gum is located must be rubbed
with ice. Then slowly and gently use a dull blade to
scrape off the gum. Alternate between using ice and
scraping. Then spray the area with pre-wash laundry
spray and wash the designer bed comforter using the
gentle cycle.
Crayon
If your little one has drawn a beautiful family portrait
on your comforter, first use a dull bladed knife to
gently scrape off as much of the crayon as possible.
Then using a small brush, apply a paste made of two
tablespoons of baking soda to one tablespoon of water,
and rub gently. After most of the stain has disappeared,
wash the comforter using a further one cup of baking
soda added to the washing machine. The use of baking
soda will not only clean the crayon away but also
rejuvenate the fabric.
Pen Ink
With removing pen ink from your designer comforter, you
must first start by soaking the area with the stain in
warm water. Afterwards, apply liberal amounts of
denatured alcohol or nail polish remover to the area,
rubbing between applications. Apply a laundry stain
remover and wash the designer bed comforter in warm
water.
Lipstick
Regardless of how the lipstick stained your bedding, it
can be removed effortlessly. Start by liberally soaking
the area in denatured alcohol. Afterwards, apply laundry
stain remover to the area and rub gently and let the
fabric sit for a while. Afterwards, wash the designer
comforter according to the manufacturer's instructions.
So by following these simple methods above, you can
remove almost any stain that has made an appearance on
your designer bed comforter. But before trying any of
these liquids on the designer comforter, it is
recommended that you do a spot test first to make sure
these cleaning solutions will not hurt the fabric. Happy
cleaning!!
