It’s the big day. Four years have passed more quickly
than you could possibly have imagined, and you are
packing up that dorm room to move in to your own place.
You have already figured out what is going on what
walls, how to frame your college posters so that they
fit more appropriately in to the grown up apartment you
have planned out. You have bought appliances for the
kitchen, new towels, and bathroom accents.
One thing has you a bit troubled though; what are you
going to do with your x long twin comforter set? You don
not want to get rid of it, there are too many memories
attached to it, and it is also still pretty new. So, you
could either buy a bed that would fit an x long twin
comforter set, or figure out something else to do with
it.
Fortunately, there are a lot of things that you can do
with your old x long twin comforter set. The first, and
most obvious, really only works if you have someone in
your family starting college right after you finish. You
can pass it along to a younger brother or sister who may
be starting college soon. If your younger brother or
sister is already in college, that works too. How often
did you wash your sheets and blankets when you were in
college? Maybe that will help them improve that average.
There is of course, always the option of putting the x
long twin comforter and its matching sheets away in the
cabinet in case you need to make up the couch for a
guest. The extra long twin sheets actually work
fantastically for making up couches for sleepover
guests. This is especially useful in the summer months,
when the texture of living room furniture can be
particularly uncomfortable because of the heat.
You can also make a couple of alterations to you x long
twin comforter set to make it grow with you into
another, more fitting incarnation of its original self.
Obviously, comforter sets are quite pricey, and you
might not be ready to spend the money on a new one just
yet. So you can save a little bit of money and add your
own flavor to your home decorating project.
First you do need to make a couple of purchases. You
want to buy sheets that fit your new bed (Full, Queen,
etc), and either a large tapestry that you like, or a
king sized patterned flat sheet that you like. Make sure
that it matches your old sheets (you’ll find out why).
To make up your new bed, put the new sheets on first.
Now put your x long twin comforter on the bed, with a
full or a queen, it should cover the top of the mattress
easily. Now take the tapestry or king sheet and put it
on top of the x long twin comforter, like an inexpensive
duvet cover.
Depending on the size of your windows, the x long twin
sheets will make two to four curtains. Now you have a
completely original bedroom and you have found a use for
your beloved x long twin comforter set.
