Xl Twin Comforter
Just What Is A XL Twin Comforter?
So your son or daughter has just graduated from high
school and the changes are rapidly setting in. They have
decided what school they are going to, you have written
that oversized check, and now the orientation materials
are rolling in. You have, between the two of you,
roughly a gazillion forms to fill out. There are
roommate selection sheets, first year seminars, mini
refrigerator rentals, and a long itemized checklist of
what you need to purchase before the big move. One
question plagues you both though, what exactly is a “xl
twin comforter”?
First of all, why would anyone want an extra large
comforter? That is your first mistake. The l in “xl”
here stands for long. An xl twin comforter is a part of
an extra long twin set that also includes an xl twin
fitted sheet and top sheet. The reason that these xl
twin items are on your student’s purchase list is
because of the unorthodox size of dormitory bedroom
furniture. Dorm beds are twin sized so that dorms can
accommodate more students more efficiently. However,
they are also longer than average twin sized beds, which
are designed for children, in order to accommodate the
taller height of post adolescents.
So where does one get an xl twin comforter? Most
department stores carry sheets and blankets that will
fit extra long twin beds. To ensure that you find what
you are looking for, it’s best to look around back to
school time. Chances are, that around that time of year,
your department store of choice will be highlighting
dorm items. In addition to stuff like miniature sized
home appliances, laptops, bean bag chairs, laundry
hampers, and notebooks, you will be pointed in the
direction of the xl twin comforter sets.
One of the great things about xl twin comforter sets, is
that since they are made specifically for college aged
kids, so they are made in styles that will appeal to
your new college student. I remember, when I started
college, my whole dorm room set came together in a
laundry bag. It included the laundry bag, two towels,
two facecloths, pillowcases, xl twin sheets, and an xl
twin comforter.
This was great because everything coordinated with one
another. One may ask themselves, “isn’t this a lot of
hassle for something that you can only use in a dorm
room?” It seems that way, but take in to consideration
that many college students live in the dorm for four
years. How often do you as an adult buy a new bed set?
I’ll be honest, I have no idea where my dorm room sheets
are now. However, when I moved into my own apartment, I
got a full sized bed, and for the first couple of years,
my xl twin comforter sufficed as a full comforter until
I could afford to invest in a new one. Now it is in my
window seat with my other extra linens for when my old
college friends come to spend the night, and it still
reminds me of that first step from childhood to
adulthood.
