Decorating for your new arrival is one of the most fun

If 'custom' is outside your price range, there are a
number of designers who create adorable and unique baby

One of my very favorite sources of unique children's
bedding and comforters is California Kids. The designs
run the gamut from adorable to striking, but not one of
them is anything approaching commonplace. You won't find
the typical 'baby' styles in the California Kids
collections for infants and children. Even a traditional
baby theme like teddy bears takes on a unique slant when
California Kids designers get hold of it. Their pastel
teddy bears are stylized cutouts that are dropped willy
nilly on the background of pink, orange, yellow and
lavender crescent moons and stars.
For something a little more funky, California Kids
offers bright patterns with such unusual motifs as hats
and purses, pink zebra stripes, antique airplanes and
pirates and dragons. Each piece is handmade when you
place your order, so be sure to allow plenty of time for
delivery before YOUR delivery.
Another designer with a unique take on children's
comforters and bedding is the whimsically named Banana
Fish. Take a traditional theme, throw it a curve, mix in
an unusual blend of colors and patterns and what have
you got? You might have Banana Fish's offering for
girl's room bedding and comforter - Lucy In The Sky with
Tulips, a delicious confection of pink and green gingham
mixed with a white-on-pink tulip print.
Banana Fish shows a similarly deft hand with unique
concepts for boy's bedding and comforters with the
Boystown collection. Navy denim, green and navy checks
and a near-abstract pattern of sports and circus motifs
make Boystown a great choice for a boy's room that will
grow with him from toddler to teenager.
Bebe Chic also designs custom children's and infant's
crib comforters and unique bedding. The company makes
liberal use of fabrics and patterns that don't usually
make their appearance in the juvenile bedding market,
including bandana prints and floral chintz. One of their
